Rape Crisis Midwest has welcomed new legislative amendments which protect victims of sexual-based crimes. Among the new amendments announced by the Justice Minister, courts may prevent victims of stalking and harrassment from being cross-examined to avoid re-retraumatisation and civil restraining orders may also be made for these crimes. Minister Helen McEntee also announced that the identity of victims of stalking and harrassment may be protected. Rape Crisis Midwest Director Karen O'Donnell says the introduction of the amendments shows how seriously sexual-based crimes are taken in modern Ireland.
