Clare County Council is advising the public to heed simplistic yet critical life saving advice for Water Saftey Awarness Week. Recreational water users, are reminded to swim within your depth at life guarded areas, bring a fully charged mobile phone, inform family and friends of your expected return time and to always carry a buoyancy aid. Meanwhile with the sun set to shine this weekend, day trippers to the county's coastal attractions are being warned of the unexpected prevalance of cold water shock. Chair of Water Safety Ireland & Ennis native, Claire McGrath says that the energy exerted swimming in a pool is not comparable to whats required for open waters.
