Claims Restoration Of Crusheen Rail Stop Would Have Significant Economic Impact
It's claimed the re-opening of the Crusheen Rail Stop would have a significant positive impact on the local economy. It comes amid fresh calls for a restoration project to be included in the All Island Rail review, which is due to be published by the end of the month. Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is due to bring a memo to Cabinet on the matter in two week's time, outlining the recommended and assessed rail-lines which could be re-opened across the Island of Ireland. Earlier this year, the Department of Transport said there was currently "no provision" for the restoration of a rail station in Crusheen, however Minister of State Dara Calleary reassured at the time that the matter would be kept under review. Spokesperson for the Crusheen Rail Stop campaign group, Michael O'Doherty is calling on the county's political representatives to support the more than two-decade long campaign to have the rail stop re-opened.
