In evening light you look out across the channel and see a woman who appears to be drowning in the middle of the strait. Quickly you rush towards the water and start to take off your shoes.
You shout that you’ll be out to help her as fast as you can, but she seems to wave you away. Confused, you take a few more steps towards the water before she slips into the depths of the waters and flips her tail up above the surface. You stand in shock as you try to process what has just happened – you’ve just witnessed a mermaid.
