Ep.37 The Art of Sacred Hospitality with Dina Gregory

Welcome to another episode of La Befana’s Table. Today, it's just you and me and I thought I’d take this episode to explore—the art of sacred hospitality.

You might remember that I touched on this in a previous episode when I shared my personal experience with hospitality and the magic that can be created in spaces of warm welcome.

But today, I want to take the time to really dive deep into this concept.

So what is sacred hospitality? According to Adam Horowitz's article, it's the sacred art of offering hope, care, and refuge. It's about holding space for the divine, nurturing connections that go beyond the surface. And that's what I'm here to do—not just fill plates with food but metaphorically fill your plate with nourishing conversations that bring wisdom, hope, and refuge from the chaos of the modern world.

In the midst of a world that sometimes feels like it's lost its way, I believe it is the practice of sacred hospitality that can guide us back to a place of warmth and connection. And I've found a beautiful anchor for this idea in the archetype of La Befana, who tirelessly searches for the Christ child in everyone and everything.

To me, the heart of sacred hospitality is extending our capacity to love and care for one another, even in impermanence, even in the midst of our own journeys.

So in this episode, I invite you to join me in trying to understand how sacred hospitality can help us to foster a culture of care and belonging that transcends systems of beliefs, that embraces the messy, imperfect parts of ourselves, and extends that hospitality to others.

And as always, thank you for joining me today at La Befana’s Table. I hope our conversation has sparked some thoughts and feelings within you that reveal the piece of the puzzle that you hold.
