North Clare Campaigner Argues Assisted Dying Bill Would Reduce "Inevitable Suffering"

A North Clare campaigner insists passing an Assisted Dying Bill would help to reduce the "inevitable suffering" caused by terminal illnesses. An Oireachtas Joint Committee has heard this week that if legislated for, Ireland could see between 1,000 and 1,500 people availing of assisted dying in the next three to four years. However, some medical professionals have expressed doubt over the practice, with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland suggesting passing the bill would threaten the "major advances" made in palliative care in recent times. Lahinch healthcare campaigner John Wall says while palliative care is of a high standard in this country, it doesn't mitigate the suffering experienced by those with painful conditions.
