Si Sutton Live at HolaOla May 2016

Hey Everybody, So this is a little break from the norm by me. I got the chance to play a birthday party at my local venue & off the back of this they have offered me the Friday night residency. To be fair, all they really had by comparison was poorly executed trance & reggaeton, so whilst it is party orientated, I included tracks to test the waters & see what I could get away with, it is largely easily accessible & mostly from back of the stack with a tracklist that went like this: Fat Freddys Drop - Flashback (Jazzanova Breath Easy Edit) Bosq - Riding High Brazuca Disco Beat - Running Scott K - I Love Music (scott k's true to the old school classic mix) The Sunchasers - JustAnotherLoveTrack Tony Momrelle - Pick Me Up (Reel People Vox) Soul Power - No Diggity (Soul Power Classic Club) Keith Thompson ft Nkiyase - Got Me Shook (Luis Evangelista's Aftershock) Blind Colors ft Melonie Daniels Walker - Found Love (RD Klub Vox) Funky Green Dogs From Outer Space - Reach For Me (Long Ass edit) Lotche - Trust Me (Soulfuledge's Diggin Deep) Tommy Vee ft Marc Evans & Sheree Hicks - Inside The Groove (Tribute Extended) Paolo Barbato ft Marina Martensson - A Night In August (Vox) Dennis Ferrer - Son Of Raw Hardrive ft Lynae - Never Forget (Backroom Sounds) UBP- Deliver Me (Jask Unreleased Dub) Backup Plan - All I Want (DubVox) Bongoloverz ft Ursula Cuesta - La Esperanza (Bongoloverz Guitarra dub) Mike Newman - Yeke Yeke (Canard) Clubworxx vs That Monsterz - Color of love (orig) Grant Nelson - LIFE (Orig) DJ Meme ft Mandala - Viva (Memes Peakhour dub) Annette Taylor - Faith (Copyright dub) Mark Knight - Non Stop Rock (Non Stop Rock Vox) The Wizard Brian Coxx & Kenny Summit - Das Hot (Orig) Shik Stylkø ft Tyree Cooper - Groove you out tonight (Grant Nelson & Brian Tappert Soulcity Experience) Damond Ramsey - Piano Rhapsody (Soulphonix Orchestra) Danny Howells Ft Erire - Dusk 'till Dawn (9Pm Club) It was really refreshing to be able to play music without any expectation or preconception. The crowd (small) had no prior exposure to this music, thus no idea whether it was current, a classic, now considered cheesy, or any personal memory association from back in the day. It was new to them, they liked it & I enjoyed the hell out of giving it to them. To put the venue into perspective, here's their promo video for last year...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcIw_Dq4UL0 Unfortunately since the earthquake the crowd is nothing like it was, however, that means I get to be part of the community building it back up, playing music I love in a fantastic bar in my kinda paradise hashtaglivingthedream :) Whilst it still may be a while before I return to radio, I will post a live set here now & again if it feels right. Meantime Id like to take a moment to send thanks to the Shizzla for taking this podcast to dizzying new heights of excellence & keeping you guys dosed up on soulful goodness! :) Si Sutton
