The Lakers had a busy weekend, winning an inspiring game Friday in Toronto before Saturday in Washington in a most irritating way, one this team has been prone to all year. Bad defensive decisions, questionable coaching, cold and stagnant offense, horrible turnovers and so on. It was a reminder that this team isn't unpopular with fans because they lose - though that obviously doesn't help - but because how they often lose makes these Lakers hard to like.
Meanwhile, LeBron James passed Karl Malone for second on the NBA's all time scoring list Saturday... and while obviously people noticed, the reception, particularly locally, hasn't been overwhelming. Is it just because the team is losing? What else is in play, here?
