We start with the weekend's news - that the Lakers will open with a pair of very tough games, October 18 against the Warriors in San Francisco to open the NBA season, then October 20 at the Crypt vs. the Clippers. For a team that needs to get off to a good start, that's a tough early slate. So is that good for them? Bad? What happens if they win? How much angst if they're blown out?
Do the Lakers, who had a soft schedule early last year and struggled against it, benefit from a tougher early season slate?
How good are the Lakers, right now? ESPN projected them at 42 wins. Fair? Unfair? How many things have to go right for the Lakers to get to their ceiling? How many of those things are likely? What does Trevor feel like they did well this offseason? What are the strengths, what are the places that are going to be more problematic? (In the plus side, youth! On the minus, shooting!)
At the least, compared to last year, there is more potential for organic, natural growth, even if the shooting is problematic. But that's something, right?
