Mit der DoP-Doppelspitze aus Xiaosu Han und Andreas Thalhammer spreche ich diesmal über das Licht und die Nacht in der Netflix-Original-Serie “Crooks”. Die beiden Bildgestalter verraten mir, wie sie die Lichterwelten an den unterschiedlichen Orten voneinander abgesetzt haben. Außerdem unterhalten wir uns über die Arbeit mit Showrunner Marvin Kren und warum sie nur zu zweit auftreten!
Es wurden in den letzten Jahren eine Menge Serien und Filme im Gangstermilieu gedreht. Da konnte man schonmal die Schnauze voll haben. Wer sich die einzelnen Produktion jedoch dann mal ansah, merkte schnell, dass vor allem die visuelle Abteilung hier starke, gestalterische Unterschiede ausarbeitete – und so die Werke deutlich voneinander absetzte. Das durften wir schon in der letzten Episode von DoP Paul Pieck über “Schock” erfahren.
Team ÖsterreichSeit 4. April läuft nun “Crooks” von Showrunner, Headautor und Regisseur Marvin Kren. Der hat mit “4 Blocks” eine der bedeutendsten Produktionen der letzten Jahre hingelegt. Diesmal holte der Österreicher für die Bildgestaltung zwei Landsleute in sein Team. DoP Xiaosu Han und DoP Andreas Thalhammer arbeiten als DoPs stets im Zweiergespann und haben bis zurück zu frühen Beleuchterzeiten jedes Projekt gemeinsam gestemmt. Das macht sie zu ungewöhnlichen DoPs mit einem komplett parallelen Erfahrungsschatz.
