Stay on Track with Your Holiday Nutrition with a Little Pre-Planning

Holiday time brings out the best in sweets, treats and delicious meals from the office to your home and plenty of places in between. But you don’t have to let all those great flavors and extra calories wreak havoc with your nutrition. Just pre-plan a little and make a few sacrifices before hand.

Holiday time brings out the best in sweets, treats and delicious meals from the office to your home and plenty of places in between.

Staying on track during the holidays is all about planning for what’s ahead. Everything is focused around food. You just need to be planning for what’s coming. Being able to earn it in a sense.

One simple thing to do is know your schedule. If you know that you have a big party on Friday night, then get on track early in the week to make it worth it that night.

Don’t take 10 steps back maybe just take one step. Then you’re able to continue on the next day and get back on the nutrition wagon.

Start every week off like that, with a plan, knowing how the week is going to go. Simply by planning ahead and knowing that those things are potentially coming up in your week. As long as you take the parts you can control, you keep them under wraps and it will help immensely.

That’s not to say you can’t cheat at all. I am definitely a food lover. I definitely have the mentality that every thing is fine in moderation. If you’re going to a party, you know you’re going want to eat and you know that you are going to no matter what. So, maybe just eat light and healthy the rest of the day and when it comes to that party, just have a little bit. Maybe don’t go overboard, just try those things that are calling your name.

And if its that Christmas Dinner or whatever the holiday event may be, just get a small portion of those things that you know that you are just going to have at that one point in time and then you’re not going to have them for a whole year. Make it worth it but at the same time, earn it.

But don’t get down on yourself if you fail. Mentally that gets people more than anything. They’ve completely lost it, they’ve given up and they feel like they might as well quit now. You just need to get back up on the horse. So the next day it’s accepting the fact. Ok, it is what it is and we’re going to start over this week. Its always a new week. It’s always a new day.

You don’t need to wait for the New Year to start smart changes now. Contact Tulsa Spine and Rehab and see what’s possible for you and your goals.  You can reach us at (918) 743-3737.
