Starlight Society - Global Music Discovery

Starlight Society is about discovering new music from all throughout time and all across the world. We want to expose you to bands and sounds you've never been introduced to, or may have only heard in passing somewhere it didn't even register. We will bring you tunes from languages we don't speak, countries we've never been to and try to expose to stuff that you may just have never heard. Music discovery is hard. Let us be your guide.

#32 - Psychobilly (Scene Show/Deep Dive)

This week's show is a scene show about the evolution of rockabilly into psychobilly and how psychobilly turned into a whole bunch of things, including gothabilly, voodoobilly, hellbilly and more. As with all scene shows, I play some foundation songs and then walk you up the timeline while letting you hear the evolution, as well as all the ingredients in the pot. We also dabble in what offshoots are slightly off to the sides, such as southern rock and alternative country, in our longest and most tune-packed scene show ever, clocking in just under 3 hours long. If you've ever been curious about the history of that double bass, horror show influenced blend of rock and roll known as psychobilly, this episode should give you plenty of places to start your own exploration.

For those of you who want to help out the show, you're more than welcome to - I've set up a Patreon for those of you who want to pitch a little in to ease the costs of the show. Every little bit helps. You can find it at http://www.patreon.com/StarlightSociety

Oh, and for the curious, I think the mixed in audio samples (most, but not all, of which are of my own choosing/blend) will probably remain a thing in the shows moving forward. The show's my own thing, which means I want to keep myself as entertained making it as hopefully it is for you listening to it, so I'll make sure they don't overwhelm the show, but I suspect you'd better learn to love them, 'cause they're not going anywhere.
