A little more than a week ago, one of the most prolific and important people in music passed away, David Bowie. For most of last week, I don't think I went a day without someone asking me "Where do you START in listening to David Bowie?"
Well, this show should provide you a good overview of the highlights of David Bowie's career. I can't cover everything, but I will do my best to give you a high-level view of the various phases of Bowie's career, and expose you to some of his best works. Everything other than my voice and my intro theme on this show was either written, co-written or performed by David Bowie.
I used cover versions in a number of instances, so you could hear the multitude of people who have covered this man's fantastic tunes of the years. I talk about the things he did for other people, like Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Mott the Hoople and more.
He went through so many identities and wrote songs for so many people. This isn't meant to cover all of the best of Bowie - I didn't have the time for that - but it should give you an idea of the biggest touchstones in the man's 50 year career. I hope you'll enjoy the episode, and I hope it'll encourage you to explore a bunch more of the magic that was David Bowie. We miss you, Ziggy...
