Podcasts – Kaijucast

Kaijucast is a Godzilla-related podcast where giant Japanese monsters (aka Kaiju) take center stage. Aside from the standard podcast banter, host and hardcore Godzilla-fan Kyle Yount shares his favorite music and audio clips from the films, reports news and interviews special guests in this bi-monthly podcast. To reduce server load, the feed has been reduced to the 20 most recent episodes, but all are available for download at Kaijucast.com

01.13.2011: Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters (the IDW Interview)

IDW Publishing’s team of Chris Ryall, Chris Mowry, Carlos Guzman and Bobby Curnow talked with the Kaijucast about their upcoming series, Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters. Happy New Year, my dearest listeners! Why on earth is the first episode of 2011 (which is the twenty-fifth episode and available for download right here) online so early? Well that’s the product of my only New Year’s resolution which is -hope you are sitting down- to do TWO EPISODES PER MONTH! I basically wanted to split these episodes up into the interview episode and the Daikaiju Discussion episode for each month. I promise I won’t burn out, since essentially this was what I’m already doing in one big push. My special guests are from a little comic book company called IDW Publishing. You may have heard of them… they are producing a new series called Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters (note the name change, true believers!). Pictured from left to right in the photo are Chris Ryall: Chief Creative Officer / Editor-in-Chief, Chris Mowry: Senior Graphic Artist / Writer, Carlos Guzman: Assistant Editor, Ongoing and Bobby Curnow: Assistant Editor, Miniseries. They were cool enough to connect with me via the internet and it was a lot of fun to talk to them. A few listeners submitted questions made it into the show, so keep an ear out for that. Speaking of keeping an ear out, here’s what I played in the episode: MONSTER MUSIC OF THE MONTH 1. Gojira by David Arnold from Godzilla (1998) 2. Monster Zero March by Akira Ifukube preformed by Neil Norman & His Cosmic Orchestra (1998) 3. Frankenstein vs. Baragon I by Akira Ifukube from Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965) 4. Godzilla by the Blue Oyster Cult performed by Fu Manchu 5. US King Kong Escapes Trailer Audio SUGGESTED READING Gareth Edwards named director of Godzilla 2012 SciFi Japan retrospective on Godzilla The Animated Series Godzilla Gamblers Rejoice: IGT to produce Godzilla Slot Machine LOCAL FLAVOR La Brujeria Release Party Geek Trivia with Cort & Fatboy I’m super happy with the way this turned out, I get to break up the prep work (which is awesome) and the file size stays lower, plus if I wanted to, I could play more cool music, etc! I’m trying to get caught up on my emails, but don’t let that stop you from emailing me! I’ll be back later this month for the Daikaiju Discussion for Latitude Zero, so make sure you get your homework turned in by the 24th in order to get your thoughts, questions and reviews included in the next episode!
