A terminally ill Clareman hopes the Ombudsman's review of the medical card system will lead to fariness, transparency and accountability within the HSE. Quin's John Wall is entitled to a medical card without a means test, as his stage four prostate cancer is certified as incurable, but his card was cancelled twice, prompting him to mount a campaign online and in the media. He made a number of complaints to the Ombudsman, all of which have been upheld, and Peter Tyndall has now agreed to undertake a review of the application process to ensure that it's in harmony with guiding legislation. John is due to meet with Health Minister Simon Harris in September, but told Morning Focus this latest development is most significant.
