Managing When You’re in a COVID-19 Hotspot

We look into the growing number of COVID cases in certain regions of the United States on today’s episode. The Disaster Podcast team also takes a look at the next named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, Tropical Storm Fay. The storm will bring rain and potential flooding to the east coast of the United States from North Carolina all the way up to New England. Our disaster meteorologist, Becky DePodwin, joins us to give an update and take a look at the weather across the rest of the country.
In our main segment, Dr. Joe Holley gives us some insights into the challenges he faces as the medical director for the City of Memphis while the city is in the midst of a COVID-19 surge. As patients inundate both EMS and hospital systems, Joe shares how the EMS providers and hospital staffs are dealing with burnout and PPE fatigue.
We also talked about a podcast series by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) about dealing with the COVID-19 crisis for nurses and other health professionals. There are six episodes on a variety of topics.
Also on the show were co-hosts Sam Bradley, and Jamie Davis.
