Leo Varadkar Addresses Threats to Shannon Airport and Covid Crisis
On Thursday's Morning Focus, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar joined Gavin Grace to discuss a number of topics. Firstly, Shannon Airport - whose survival is under threat following comments which emerged at a meeting yesterday of the Dáil’s Transport Committee. Secondly, the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s response to the outbreak of the virus. Earlier this week, the government rejected recommendations from NPHET to move the entire country to level 5 restrictions, and instead put all counties in the Republic to level 3. There are questions over the impact this has had on the government’s relationship with NPHET - particularly after Mr. Vardakar’s comments during the week. Thirdly, will we adopt the circuit breaker method after all? Will this be needed to save Christmas? All these questions and more were put to the Leader of the Fine Gael Party.
