First Responder Mental Health and Stress Injury Awareness

We invited psychologist Randy DuPont PhD. on the show this episode to talk about mental health wellness and awareness in the first responder and disaster response community. Randy is a recognized expert in the fields of mental illness, crisis de-escalation systems and public safety personnel wellness programs.
He is a professor and clinical psychologist at the University of Memphis School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. Previously, he was a professor at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, where he was responsible for the Regional Medical Center Psychiatric Emergency Services.
Then we talk with our disaster weather expert Becky DePodwin about recent extreme weather outbreaks in the tropics, especially Hurricane Iota’s impacts on Central America. Our other disaster meteorologist, Kyle Nelson comes on to look at extreme weather across the mountain west and the rest of the country.
Also on the show were co-hosts Sam Bradley, Jamie Davis, and Dr. Joe Holley.
