Happy holidays. I want to thank everyone who continues to support the show through your listenership. Since we are on holiday from regularly scheduled content, I am taking this opportunity to share with you something I have been working on personally for the last two years: a musical album.
Some of you don’t know I am a musician, but music is a huge part of my life. I have a lifelong goal of making music that is broadly accessible–often referred to as “pop” music. My day job is as host of Software Engineering Daily, but I am quite serious about my side pursuit of music. That said, I don’t often share that side of myself because I see this podcast as a zone of professionalism. This is a show about software engineering, not my personal audio blog.
Since we are on holiday, I’m taking the opportunity to lower the professional tone a bit and just open up about who I am as Jeff. I want to improve as a musician, and the only way to improve is to have an audience who can give criticism and feedback.
I’m releasing this music on Christmas Eve, as a personal gift from me to you. I hope you have some free time to have a listen, and let me know what you think. Email any thoughts on the music to jeff@softwaredaily.com.
If you truly like the music, please do share this post with friends, and check out my other music on YouTube, Spotify and Soundcloud. This is my seventh album, and I have been working at music composition for fifteen years. I am trying to make great music that people actually want to listen to. The quality I am aiming for is music that you enjoy so much that it makes you want to share it with others.
Are you a musician yourself? I would love to collaborate with you. Get in touch with me over email. I’m especially looking for vocalists. On many of the songs in this album, I am the singer. I’m not trained at singing, and I think the music would benefit from some more experienced vocalists.
I am looking to learn more about the music industry. If you have any suggestions for people I should talk to, or books I should read, I would also love recommendations.
With that short preamble said, here is my album “Simulation”. I hope you enjoy it, and please share your feedback with me over email or on Twitter.
