Dr. Armbruster draws on his extensive spiritual training, along with his international travel and time spent living abroad, to give insight into topics including cultural sexuality, sexual shame, the art of intimacy and the idea of building sexual momentum.
The biggest thing that happens with us sexually is shame – especially in the states. And sex and religion, they don’t really match. And you speak to people, and some people believe that God’s not okay with sex… and God’s not okay with this… Or it’s really bad if we do this sexual activity… Or the church doesn’t recognize this and that. That shame – and it hits us right in the groin, right in the middle part of our body and really – it’s a heavy energy.
Dr. Deb and Dr. Armbruster discuss how couples can recapture passion and utilize self-reflection to improve sexual and overall connectedness.
…you talk about the stages – I call it the Discovery Stage. And in order to do a Discovery Stage, you have to pull back, you have to take a step back and look at your life – look at your relationship. And start to look at saying “Okay what’s off? Is there any animosity? Is there any stress? Did I do something to hurt them?”
