Starlight Society - Global Music Discovery

Starlight Society is about discovering new music from all throughout time and all across the world. We want to expose you to bands and sounds you've never been introduced to, or may have only heard in passing somewhere it didn't even register. We will bring you tunes from languages we don't speak, countries we've never been to and try to expose to stuff that you may just have never heard. Music discovery is hard. Let us be your guide.

#41 - "Chicken Duck Woman Thing"

So because we had two scene shows this month, and the grunge show ran overlong, this is a particularly short week, but hey, it's still a show, and it's full of fun stories of people whom have brought (or stoked) particular music in my life over the years.

I tell stories about an epic mixtape from high school, about an alternative to Hooked On Phonics, about how I learned the 19/17 Nebraska rule, about the songs I picked up riding in cars, and a handful more.

It's a show that won't last much more than an hour, but it's chock full of fun.

As always, you can find all our podcasts at www.starlightsociety.com and you can contribute to the show at www.patreon.com/starlightsociety

There is a Prince tribute show coming in the vein of our David Bowie tribute show (the R.I.P. Prince show will be show #43) but it's a bit out, because I have plans for the next episode that have been set for a while (based on the episode number, so it can't really move), and because I want to do my homework on Prince first. I wasn't a huge fan of his beforehand, but in starting to do my research, I think I was just being exposed to the wrong stuff. I thought about trying to to cram Prince into the hour and change I had here, but it felt like I was short shifting him, which isn't fair to an artist of his breadth of work.
