Die Geschichte des Kriminalromans bietet eine schier unendliche Fülle von Entwicklungen. Wer sich verwundert fragt, warum etwa ein Sam Spade oder ein Philipp Marlowe (nur um einige zu nennen) hier nicht genannt werden, dem sei gesagt, dass es hier vor allem um die Entwicklung des Genres aus dem viktorianischen Zeitalter heraus geht. Wie in der Sendung erwähnt, wird sicher noch ergänzendes Material geliefert, natürlich immer vorausgesetzt, dass ein gewisses Interesse an der Materie besteht.
