Clare Connection To British Olympic Medal Winning Horse
On Wednesday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by daughter of the late Clare horse breeder, Noel Hickey, his brother Peadar Hickey and Susan Finnerty, Freelance Journalist for the Irish Field and Farmers Journal. There was good news for Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday, as they collected another gold medal – this one coming in the equestrian team eventing competition. The late breeder Noel Hickey, originally from Ennistymon, bred Ballaghmor Class, British rider Oliver Townend's horse. Townend, along with Laura Collett and Tom McEwen, secured gold for the British.
