Calls For The Resumption Of Indoor Social Clubs For Elderly People
On Friday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Kay Murphy, Shannon-based Secretary of Active Retirement Ireland and Ciaran McKinney, Engage Programme manager with Age and Opportunity For many elderly people in Clare and further afield, social clubs and active retirement groups are a very important part of life. From dancing to bridge, there is a group or club to facilitate every interest, and for many of these people, it is their only form of social interaction on a weekly basis. Minister for Older People, Mary Butler, is calling for restrictions which affect these social outlets to be lifted in September.
