Not a Pity Party Podcast by Resilience Collective

Not A Pity Party podcast by Resilience Collective overturns the stereotype that those living with mental health conditions are helpless, constantly feeling sorry for themselves, and a victim to their illness. Through this podcast featuring peer voices and stories of discovery, self-empowerment and peer support, we want to inspire hope and courage in our listeners to know that mental health recovery is real. It is possible to exit the pity party and to find new purpose and meaning in the midst of mental health challenges. Through RC’s strong peer community, peers are able to empower each other and foster mental resilience as they navigate their mental health journeys.

episode 1: Overcoming Silent Struggles with Depression from the Age of Ten - Not A Pity Party Podcast S01E01 - Nisha

Trigger warning, this episode includes references to self-harm and suicidal thoughts.  Listener discretion is advised.

In this pilot episode of the first season, Nisha tells us what it was like putting up a happy front while suicidal, her love-hate relationship with medication, and how recovery is not a checklist.

She tells us about horror podcasts that help her focus, and that taking things one step at a time keeps her strong and hopeful.
