Calls For Positive Discrimination For Clare Businesses On Hospitality VAT Rate

Clare's Fianna Fail Senator is asking the Finance Minister to row back on the planned increase in VAT for the hospitality sector. It's due to increase to 13.5 percent again from next year, having stood at nine percent during the height of the pandemic. Leading hospitality operators in this county claim they are being unfairly treated following an outcry at alleged 'price gouging' by Dublin outlets. Speaking in the Seanad, Mountshannon based Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley says a solution has to be found, and options including treating businesses outside of the capital need to be looked at.
