Jessie Monk

Jessie Monk is a conglomeration of subatomic particles, originally from GunaiKurnai land in Australia. She sings folk songs inspired by the people she keeps meeting, stories she keeps hearing and thresholds she keeps walking through. Also a dancer and an actor, Jessie has played in some major musicals in Australia, including David Bowie’s last piece, Lazarus. She began singing her tunes for people around Israel in 2019 before moving to Berlin in 2020 where she’s been astounded by her warm welcome to the thriving folk scene. Chasing the holy grail of albums like Blue and New Skin for the Old Ceremony, from Jessie, you can expect to hear earthy, story-lead folk songs about longing, loving and meeting that stranger in the mirror who continually surprises us.

Jessie's debut and sophomore Singles, Maybe In Another Life and Turns Out I'm Someone Else (2020) garnered critical acclaim around Europe and Australia; Xune Magazine stating of the former; 'Everything about the track is pure folk wizardry'. Her most recent single Lonesome Winter Blues (2021), has been making waves, selected as Indie Top 39 UK's #1 Track of the week, reviewed as 'another example of Jessie Monk's Immaculate Song Writing' by For The Love of Bands' and featured on Triple J's Roots 'n' All .

'Here, Now' Jessie's anticipated debut EP will be released on Febuary 26th, 2021 and invites listeners, with ease and grace, into an ocean filled with the waves of Jessie’s longing, seduction, playfulness, empathy, vulnerability, joy, sorrow, confusion and finally, pilgrimage toward presence. Mixed by Cameron James Laing and Mastered by Doug Van Sloun (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit).
