The Clinical Toolbox: Dr. Dustin Radloff Joins the Team

Dr. Sean Riley often talks about the variety of treatment options available at Tulsa Spine and Rehab. Each of these options can be thought of as a tool in the clinical toolbox. Today we’re going to learn more about Dr. Dustin Radloff, a new chiropractor here at Tulsa Spine and Rehab. We’ll learn about how he became a chiropractor and his approach to patient care. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

My History

I got into the chiropractic field primarily because of the severe allergies and asthma I had when I was growing up. I was a gymnast for ten years, and my heavy involvement in sports from a young age has influenced my approach to caring for patients. My main focus is on the weekend warrior or anybody who’s involved in sports. I take a holistic approach to care, including my specialty in a muscle technique that activates the patient’s muscles. It’s a unique and interesting approach that not many other providers offer.

I went to school at Parker University in Dallas, Texas. Before that, I lived in Norman, Oklahoma for most of my life. I also practiced up in Springfield Illinois for a little over a year and a half. Thanks to a good friend, I was introduced to Dr. Riley.

Tackling Common Misconceptions

When most people hear about chiropractors, they think of us as bone crunchers. All we’re going to do is pop your bones and send you on your way, right? Absolutely not. I definitely think that people don’t realize the extent of what chiropractors can actually do.

I have extensive training that allows me to go through a patient’s muscles to figure out which are firing and which aren’t. I think we’re also making great strides to inform patients that chiropractic care isn’t just about adjustment. Adjustment is a great option, but if you don’t make sure that the surrounding muscles are stable and strong enough to provide needed support, the adjustment won’t be as effective.

Another common misconception people hold is that chiropractors are only spine related. I’ve had patients with knee, ear, or sinus issues that were surprised at what I could do. We can investigate different aspects of a patient’s body to provide effective care.

Variety of Treatment Options

One of the biggest advantages of Tulsa Spine and Rehab is the variety of providers available on-site. There’s chiropractic, physical therapy, and a whole range of options to make sure that patients see results. It’s just wonderful. When I was looking into coming to join the team here, I was awestruck at the modalities that could be combined with the muscle work that I do. Patients who come here will receive comprehensive care. It’s really an all-in-one resource.
