East Clare Councilor Labels New Motor Tax Proposals "Totally Ridiculous"
An East Clare Councillor has labelled new proposals which abolish road tolls in favour of higher raod tax for all motorists as "totally ridiculous". Transport Infrastructure Ireland is considering the move, which if approved, will see all motorists charged for using the national road network. A decision to increase road tolls was deffered in Novemeber until July 1st, when the cost is due to rise by 9% on some routes. Chair of Clare County Council's Physical Development Committee, Bodyke Fine Gael Councillor Joe Cooney says steps need tp be taken to ensure the latest proposals don't come to pass.
