A former Clare councillor is wary about calls to change the law which requires local representatives to list their address publicly at election time. It follows a spike in reported threats and alleged assaults against politicians at local and national level. Under current legislation, candidates must list an address on election campaign material - meaning those not affiliated with a political party are most likely using their home address.
