Episode 269: Mean Girls

For this one, the question is not whether it's 'still got it' (spoiler: it does) but how did it grow with us, who were we in high school, how is a movie so obsolete still so relevant? And most importantly: is there ANY other movie as *widely* quoted...

Episode 268: Air Bud

YES this is a silly movie for children and YES some stuff really doesn't pay off and YES at its core it's absurd but DANGIT if that dog isn't adorable and also an...amazing actor?! This movie will shamelessly and obviously pull on your heart strings and you WILL sob. Also: basketball! Podcast fave Bob Nasr joins Celey & special guest (and genuine basketball expert) comedian Vince Chang to take a closer look at this very good boy.

Episode 267: Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion

Silly, campy, sometimes heartwarming, and all times a feast for the senses, this movie passes in a dream that you may or may not register but all that matters is you tune in for the final dance. Lana Schwartz (writer, and author of 'Build Your Own Romantic Comedy') joins Celey and Nora to talk about one of her favorite movies, high school popularity paradoxes, and how in love ARE these friends?

Episode 266: Beethoven’s 2nd

We expected to love the puppies. We were NOT expecting to covet all the fashion (Debbie Mazar is a VISION?!) in this movie! Is it a pretty silly & goofy & loosely plotted children's movie? Yes. But DANG something about these dogs and the over-the-top adult performances is incredibly charming. Guest Joyah Love Spangler, (actress/choreographer/director/dog owner) sums it up in a word: PUPPIES!

Episode 265: Swiss Family Robinson

It was really hard to talk about anything other than the treehouse. We thought we loved this movie but really we just LOVED that treehouse, or to put it simply: "Look, I'm not an ostrich expert." It is a weird outlier for this podcast but both Celey & Nora were obsessed as kids and we just had to revisit this Disney flick from 1960. Spoiler: the animals and many humans are not treated...great.

Episode 264: The Little(r) Rascals

We ALL watched this as kids and we have NO idea if kids today would like it at all? But we do know that watching as adults makes us feel...weird about gender roles and small small kids pretending to be adults. Comedian Renee Santos is back after almost 6 YEARS to reprise her role talking about Spanky, Alfalfa, and the whole gang! Find Renee on insta @ReneeSantosComedy & if you're in LA, get tickets for LezFest Sunday April 3rd! at Reneesantos.com or https://womenonaroll.com/lez-fest/
