London photographer Rich McCor had an idea for how to photograph the sights in his city in a novel way: he gives them new and whimsical spins by adding paper cut-outs. Rich McCor posted his images on Instagram and received an offer from travel guide publisher Lonely Planet. The publisher liked them so much that they sent McCor to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Paris. Now his Instagram channel has about 30,000 subscribers.

Business discovers Snapchat

Snapchat was launched in 2011 and has become especially popular with the under-25 user base. The photo and video messages are for quick consumption, after which they’re deleted. It's currently the fastest growing social network. There are more than 200 million users, who send almost 9000 images per second.

The Future of Messenger Apps


Messenger apps have now moved well beyond exchanging texts and images. Soon, users will be able to shop, pay bills and transfer money through WhatsApp, WeChat and Line. The future of mobile messaging services has already arrived - in Asia. China's WeChat, for example, can be used to pay for and order clothes, meals or a taxi. Digital assistance tackle breast cancer


Students from Uganda have developed an app to help breast cancer screening. It features a glove that can be connected to a smartphone app to relay data from sensors.The sensors search for suspicious lumps in breast tissue. The resulting images are stored in the app and sent on to specialists for a closer analysis if necessary. The screening tool is especially promising for women living in rural areas.
