Too Many Podcasts! (Exploring podcasts w/ Jim the Podcast Sherpa)

What a pleasure this interview was, Rebels! I've been fortunate to interview a few former child stars, but Jill really made it her mission to be involved with entertainment, one way or the other. And as you'll hear in the interview, so much of her life has come full circle. I thought it was so cool that she still referred to Gavin MacLeod as "my tv dad". (Trivia fun fact-Only Jill and Helen Hunt can say that about him...

What impresses me so much about a guy like Wize (a Wize guy? No...nevermind.)is how driven that he is as a podcaster. He wants his voice to have a place in your audio/visual media. And I can see that happening. Hey, if I'm able to bring my humor to a podcast, anything is possible, right? But anyway, check out "Stuck In My Mind". This may come as a bit of a shock to you, Rebels,but Carmelle told me before our interview that she really doesn't do many podcast interviews. Now you're probably thinking, "Whaaaaaaaat??!!" Here's a lady who is an ideal podcast guest. She's got interesting stories about her fitness journey. She's highly knowledgeable in her field. She paints an honest picture for her clients with their expectations, and when talking about the realities of fitness and nutrition...

Now, Rebels, you just KNOW that a guy who went from an engineer in Great Britain to a teacher in Brazil to a relationship coach in Los Angeles has got an interesting tale to tell. And luckily, on today's episode, you get to hear that story. In a lot of my episodes up to this point, I've spoken to people who've had their time in the spotlight. ( Not me, Rebels, I sunburn too easily).They've all gone down separate roads since that time. Today, you'll get to hear Deborah's story, which is also a reflection on the highs and lows of her life. Whether she was in or out of the spotlight, you can tell that she put the work in to be successful, from a young girl to today. I found her story to be very interesting...

After over 140 episodes, I'm surprised that I haven't spoken to to more podcasters with radio backgrounds, with of course, the exception being the brilliant Mr. Bruce (or Uncle Bruce, if you're listening to our "Too Many 80's Songs" mini-podcast on Spotify....and why aren't you?? Either way, the check is in the mail.) But Big Skinny definitely has that classic country music radio voice. Certainly not one that you'd confuse with the BBC...

I hope that when you, dear listeners, hear interviews, like today's chat with Michael, keep in mind that there is always hope even when things may seem to be at their most dire or bleak.  It's certainly not the easiest thing to focus on in hard times, but trust me, it's there. Just have a listen to Michael's show, and that idea is confirmed.Plus, he brings a level of empathy and relatability, through the events in his own personal life. Maybe shows like this will inspire you...

Another episode in my never-ending pursuit to bring all music to the masses! Or something like that. You can just tell how much fun it was to talk to Aubrey. Before our interview, I had commented to her that she sent me down a rabbit hole, because I'd never known of many female jazz trombonists. Well, let me tell you Rebels, there are plenty, and, as Aubrey explained, "And, we all know each other!" You gotta love speaking to anyone who can give you an answer like that...

You know, I actually SAY, "You sound like you're in a hole!" in this interview.  For this episode Rebels, sadly, I do. But it's not too deep a hole, I promise. But what an interesting guest Anthony was. In a still relatively young life, he's experienced more highs and lows than most people, myself included. AND he still steals his kids' Halloween candy!
