I believe in people, not all of them and not all the time but I still believe in them. Don't You? This is a poem from my first book Singsong Crows and Alphabet Soup: Meditation Poetry on Life.
For women as we move forward in life we are often discounted, seen as no longer really valuable, or valid. This couldn't be further from the truth. I wrote this poem and it has been presented at several events and won an award for it candor. We are valuable, valued and have a lot to contribute to the world. Never doubt it!
I will admit I have spent plenty of time in my life wondering about my purpose, where I am going, what am I doing with my life and I need to "find" myself. I've come to the conclusion that a lot of the time spent ruminating, contemplating an analyzing was wasted time. I've lived a big life, however, it could've been bigger and fuller if I didn't spend all that time ruminating. Frankly, some of the biggest "aha "moments come when I'm not thinking about these things at all...

We all know I love meditation. I'm very particular about my ideas on meditation. You'll keep learning that as you listen. I'm also very particular about language...and ageist language. Words we say to others or even ourselves that we may not realize are ageist. Ageist language also knows no age, no culture, no race. It's universal. We need to change the dialogues and change the language we use with others and ourselves.

Certain schools of meditation teach us that once we are seated we have to stay completely still. And that means zero movement. No scratching your nose, adjusting in your seat if you're uncomfortable, no bathroom breaks… Nothing! I'm not in love with this technique and I'll tell you why.
